Dahua Technology USA Introduces 2MP PTZs with H.265

By | August 22, 2017

IRVINE, California, August 22, 2017 – Dahua Technology USA, a leading manufacturer of video surveillance solutions proven the world over, has added five new mid-to-long range Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) cameras to its Pro Series and Ultra Series. These new PTZ network cameras feature an ultra low-light, 2MP sensor, exceptional wide dynamic range, Starlight technology, and backwards-compatible compression options.

PTZ cameras are widely used for applications that require real-time tracking of people or vehicles with an appropriate level of zoom to identify fine details up close. The continuous movement that PTZs endure requires more bandwidth than a stationary camera. Thanks to the latest in video compression standards, the new 2MP PTZs offer H.265 for improved encoding efficiency while preserving high-quality video. H.265 can save up to 50% on bandwidth and storage when compared to standard H.264. The cameras also support MJPEG and H.264 for backwards compatibility.

“These new additions to Dahua’s portfolio have the latest compression standard, but for systems that are not yet ready for an upgrade to H.265, the cameras are also compatible with previous codecs,” explained Jennifer Hackenburg, senior product marketing manager at Dahua USA. “In this way, the end user’s investment in their video surveillance system is maximized, because they can transition to the new codec whenever they’re ready. It’s as simple as flipping a switch.”

The new Pro Series mini-PTZ is offered at a cost-effective price point, boasts ease of installation, and has IR illumination and a 25x optical zoom lens. Three of the new Pro Series PTZs feature a 30x zoom, true wide dynamic range, and auto-tracking functionality, meaning the camera can follow a subject automatically without the need of an operator. The new Ultra Series PTZ features a resilient metal housing for tough environments, auto-tracking, a powerful 40x optical zoom lens, and an IR distance of up to 200m (656.7 feet).

All five PTZs deliver remarkably detailed surveillance in nighttime scenes, thanks to ultra-low light Starlight technology. By balancing light throughout the scene, Starlight allows for detail to be captured in low light at illumination down to 0.005 lux. Additionally, Intelligent Video System (IVS) analytics allow the cameras to quickly and accurately respond to monitoring events in a specific area, including tripwire violations, intrusion detection, and detection of abandoned or missing objects. Between cutting-edge video surveillance technology and high-performing hardware, Dahua’s new PTZ cameras demonstrate why Dahua is a leader in video surveillance.
